Blaise Transit launched its On-Demand Transit Solution in Prescott-Russell, ON, in June 2021
Blaise Transit, a Canadian On-Demand Transit (ODT) provider, is thrilled to announce a new on-demand transit project in the United Counties of Prescott-Russell, Ontario. The new transit system, which has launched June 15, 2021, has replace all 12 fixed-route bus lines in the region to create a fully on-demand transit service for residents and tourists alike.
This partnership will provide an alternative to solo-driving to all residents in the area so they can travel safely, conveniently, and respectfully to the environment using Blaise Transit's AI-powered on-demand transit software. On-demand busses has replaced PR Transpo's fixed-route network, which previously operated 12 fixed routes from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday. The ODT service will provide an enhanced service level to users by extending operation hours, cutting travel times, and offering more flexibility. With this, Blaise Transit's solution is expected to grow transit ridership in the region, enabling PR Transpo to improve the service's economic sustainability while enhancing its services.
ODT as the answer to the pandemic transit slump
Under pandemic conditions, the hard-hit transit sector moves towards on-demand models, finding a cost-efficient way to provide transit services while improving its reliability and user experience. ODT can lower costs when implemented correctly than underutilized fixed-route networks while simultaneously reducing passenger wait times, travel times, and the number of times drivers are circling routes without any riders. Blaise Transit allows transit agencies to transition toward ODT using their current fleets without significant changes to their operations, making the switch easier than ever.
"We're excited to launch our on-demand transit solution, which will replace all fixed-bus lines currently operating in Prescott-Russell. We believe this new system will enable the United Counties of Prescott-Russell to offer an enhanced service for a fraction of the costs. We're hoping that this new model will encourage transit use in the region, making transportation in the area more sustainable. We're looking forward to seeing the projected benefits of Blaise's ODT solution materializing in real-time."
