Blaise Transit is launching its on-demand transit solution in Dieppe, New Brunswick, in May 2021
Blaise Transit, a Canadian on-demand transit (ODT) software provider, backed by Techstars, is thrilled to announce a new on-demand transit pilot project in the City of Dieppe, New Brunswick to be launched in May 2021. The new transit system will replace all fixed-route bus lines in Dieppe on weekends for the duration of the 6-month project.
This partnership will allow Dieppe residents to rediscover their City for free on weekends safely and conveniently using Blaise Transit's AI-powered on-demand transit software. On-demand buses will replace Dieppe's fixed-route, all-day weekend service, which previously operated three fixed routes from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm. The ODT pilot is expected to grow transit ridership in the City, enabling the City of Dieppe to achieve its environmental goals while improving the service's financial sustainability.
ODT, the solution to providing quality transit services in post-pandemic recovery
Under pandemic conditions, the hard-hit transit sector moves toward on-demand models, finding a cost-efficient way to provide transit services while improving its reliability and user experience. When implemented correctly, ODT can lower operating costs compared to underutilized fixed-route services, while simultaneously reducing passenger wait times and the number of times that drivers are circling routes without any riders. Blaise Transit allows transit agencies to move toward ODT with their current fleets without significant changes to their operations, making the switch easier than ever. Offered through one universal app, each city can customize how they want the service to be offered in their operating zone.
"We're excited to launch the first on-demand transit solution which aims at replacing all fixed-bus lines in the Canadian Atlantic region. It was a pleasure working with a forward-thinking City that has, at its heart, the well-being of its residents and the environment. We're looking forward to seeing the projected benefits of Blaise's ODT solution materializing in real-time."
- Justin Hunt, Blaise Transit CEO

In the 17th century, a man by the name of Blaise Pascal came up with an idea to run five-cent coaches around specified, heavily trafficked routes in Paris, picking up and dropping off passengers at designated points. What started on March 18, 1662 became the primary blueprint for the concept of public transportation.
